Exhaust filters include a catalyzed diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) that reduces carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter (PM), while the downstream diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps and oxidizes remaining PM through passive regeneration during normal operation. If passive regeneration is not feasible, active regeneration, managed by the exhaust temperature management system, is used.
