The genset is powered by a Scania DC13-72A diesel engine featuring a 12.7-litre displacement, six-cylinder configuration, direct fuel injection, and turbocharged and aftercooled aspiration. The engine operates at 1500 rpm at 50 Hz and is designed to provide strong load response, efficient fuel utilisation, and consistent power delivery under demanding operating conditions. The engine incorporates an electronic governor for precise control of engine speed and generator frequency.

The G400QX is equipped with a robust four-pole alternator featuring star-connected windings, Class H insulation, IP23 enclosure protection, self-excited brushless excitation, and electronic AVR voltage regulation. The alternator is designed to provide stable electrical output and reliable operation under varying load conditions. The standard configuration operates at 400/230 V, 50 Hz, three phase, with a 0.8 power factor.

The QX configuration provides a robust acoustic canopy package suitable for fixed installations and demanding operating environments. The published G400QX specification gives dimensions of approximately 4500 × 1800 × 2340 mm and a dry weight of approximately 4,388 kg including oil and coolant. The standard fuel tank capacity is 740 litres, with an extended-run tank option also available.
